Merit-Based Scholarships
UArts celebrates the talents of its students through a range of merit-based scholarships, which are gifts and awards that are not paid back.
The artists who make up our student body and our ever-growing alumni community are the core of UArts. Many of our students know the impact scholarships have on their studies and future career, and the wide range of scholarships aims to support them in pursuing their goals by offsetting the cost of tuition in each of UArts’ schools: Art, Dance, Design, Film, Music, and Theater.
All students are automatically considered for scholarships. No separate application is required, unless it is specified.
Scholarship Overview
Scholarship recipients are evaluated based on the review of their creative portfolios and/or auditions, prior academic success, related experience, and general suitability of their interests and goals in our programs.
New student scholarships are renewable for each year of study, based on maintaining satisfactory academic progress in your program of study.
International students are eligible for merit-based scholarships under the same criteria as domestic applicants.
Applicants who are admitted will be notified about any merit-based scholarships they have been awarded in their admission acceptance letter.
In addition to merit-based scholarships, applicants who have filed the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) will be reviewed for need-based financial aid.
Applicants who have been offered admission to the fall will be sent a comprehensive award package that includes their merit- and need-based awards, starting the first week of January. Accepted applicants who submit the FAFSA after this date will receive a comprehensive award package approximately two to three weeks after filing.
UArts Scholarships
UArts’ mission of advancing human creativity is only made possible by empowering inspired, curious artists. Scholarships are an important part of making an education in the arts achievable and accessible to as many students as possible and are awarded on the basis of academic excellence and demonstrated talent. UArts offers a selection of scholarships to all students who apply to pursue an education in the arts.
Priority Deadlines
Students who submit their applications and all required materials by the priority deadline will receive first consideration for scholarship aid from UArts. Applications received after the priority deadline will be reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis.
We encourage students to complete the FAFSA by March 15, if possible.
Many students and families have encountered technical challenges while trying to complete the FAFSA this year. If this is the case for you, continue to utilize the FAFSA support resources until your issue is resolved. UArts will ensure that all admitted students who file the FAFSA are eligible for the same institutional funding to support your costs.
