Steve Winfield Meyer is an animator, a designer and a director based in West Philadelphia. He currently freelances from the BOK Building in South Philadelphia and has been teaching part time at UArts since 2018. 

Meyer’s current work emphasizes combining different techniques and software in an attempt to create unconventional worlds and narratives, which aligns with his teaching practice in Compositing and Special Effects, Intro to 2-D Computer Animation, and Storyboarding.

Meyers is excited to collaborate on purposeful media to drive works of social and environmental justice.

Biography

Raised on television, video games and comic books in Wilmington, Delaware, Steve Winfield Meyer studied film and animation at Delaware College of Art and Design in Wilmington and Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, New York, while starting a freelance career in animated music videos. He hustled in New York for five years after college and escaped to Philly in 2018. Consistently inspired by Chuck Jones, Satoshi Kon and David Lynch.

Experience

  • Meyer has written, directed, designed and animated shorts, commercials and music videos that have been featured on Adult Swim, The Creators Project, MTV, Pitchfork and Rolling Stone. 
  • Some of his notable clients include Adidas, Animal Collective, Cloud Nothings, The Eric Andre Show and Mozilla.
