Jeffrey Kern has been teaching at University of the Arts for 30 years and led the Voice department for 20 years. Kern mainly focuses on brass, composing, conducting, music education, piano and voice. He has been guest conductor for several festival choruses in Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has been the Philly Pops’ choral director since  2001.

Biography
Jeffrey Kern began singing solos in church starting at age five and taking piano lessons when he was seven. Kern earned his BS in Music Education from Lebanon Valley College in Annville, Pennsylvania, and his MM in Music Education from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor.

Experience

  • Kern conducts five ensembles at UArts, and they regularly perform each year. 
  • The Philly Pops Festival Chorus, of which he is the choral director, regularly performs in concert series with the Philly Pops. 
  • He has arranged orchestral and choral pieces for the Pops. Most recently, Kern arranged Cole Porter’s “True Love” for orchestra and chorus and conducted it in Verizon Hall at the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts.
