Dance (MFA)

Ruth Fentroy is from Canada and is assistant professor of ballet for the Boston Conservatory at Berklee. She began her training with the Goh Ballet Academy and finished with the Royal Winnipeg Ballet before embarking on a professional career, most notably, performing with the Cairo Opera Ballet, Egypt. Additionally, she performed in companies throughout the U.S., which provided touring opportunities domestically, as well as in Canada, Costa Rica, Cyprus, Scotland and Egypt. 

Fentroy has appeared in film, television and regional musical theater productions. Before retiring from the stage, she danced with White Crane Dance Theatre, an explorative dance company incorporating aspects of qigong, chi, or life energy, with ballet. Fentroy spent several years as ballet mistress with Dance Peninsula Ballet and California Contemporary Ballet Theater and has served as artistic director of the Ballet departments of the California dance schools Studio Fusion and The Studio, Art of Dance, where she honed her skills as a mentor and coach while also setting many original youth/children’s ballets. 

Her additional professional collaborations include creating costumes for Barak Ballet, directed by current Los Angeles Ballet Director Melissa Barak; Gustavo Dudamel’s Los Angeles Philharmonic; Ma Cong, associate artistic director of Richmond Ballet; Dance Theatre of Harlem; and groundbreaking choreographers Nicolas Blanc, Darrell Grand Moultrie, Andi Schermoly and Norbert De La Cruz III.
