JOB TITLE: Photography Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:  Media Resources

REPORTS TO:  Manager of Media Resources

Summary:

To act as a liaison between the Photography department, ensuring that the Photography department’s needs are met and to assist in the equipment room.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Understand the needs of the Photography program
  • Train clients on the use of equipment
  • Advise and assist the Manager of Media Resources
  • Help develop Media Resources policies and procedures
  • Maintain photo equipment inventories, supplies, and functionality
  • Assess equipment repairs, perform repairs when possible, send equipment out for repairs when necessary
  • Prepare reserved equipment and media resources for faculty, staff and students
  • Oversee and assist with checkouts and returns
  • Help keep and accurate inventory in Web Checkout
  • Keep up to date expertise on current technology and software

Education:

  • At least a Bachelor’s degree in photography is required, a Master’s is preferred

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years of experience in an equipment room
  • Minimum of two years professional photography experience
  • Experience teaching or training in a formal setting preferred

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Technical expertise – in depth knowledge of the technology supported is critical.
  • Teaching – ability to train others on use and care of the equipment is also critical.
  • Analytical thinking – ability to problem solve, think strategically and plan ahead is key.
  • Organization – must be able to maintain an organized environment in cooperation with all members of the Media Resources team.

About half of the duties of this job are performed sitting. The other half the employee will spend walking to and from storage locations and areas where supported equipment is. This position involves lifting and carrying any number of pieces of equipment and moving them onto and off of shelves. May sometimes need to climb step stools and ladders.

Work will be performed in a lively academic atmosphere. While work will primarily be performed indoors our campus is spread over several blocks. Moving equipment between buildings in year round weather conditions will occasionally be required.
