John B. Lindner is an adjunct professor at UArts and has been teaching there since fall 2011. His emphasis has been in the area of the supervision and observation of Music Education student teachers. He earned his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Education degrees from Trenton State College in New Jersey. For 34 years, he served as director of bands at Northern Burlington County Regional High School in Columbus, New Jersey. While tenured there, Linder also served as chairman of the Visual and Performing Arts Department. He also directed the brass, jazz, and wind ensembles, as well as the jazz, marching, and symphonic bands and the musical show orchestra. 

Awards & Accolades
Lindner has been honored numerous times throughout his career. 

  • He was selected by the New Jersey Chapter of the International Association for Jazz Education as the New Jersey Jazz Educator of the Year in 2003.  

  • He was honored as the 2007 New Jersey Master Music Educator of the Year by the New Jersey Music Educators Association and received the New Jersey Governor’s Award in Arts Education. 

  • Under his direction, a marching band placed first three times at the USSBA (now USBands) Marching Band finals. 

  • In 2007, the jazz ensemble he directed placed first in the NJ-AJE (New Jersey Association for Jazz Education) State Jazz Band Division Three finals.

  • The wind ensemble Lindner directed was selected seven times to perform at the NBA/NJMEA New Jersey State Gala Band Concert.  

  • He served as guest conductor of the 2004 All South Jersey Senior High School Symphonic Band, the 2009 Central Jersey Music Educators Association Intermediate Honors Band, and the 2010 Central Jersey Music Educators Association High School Symphonic Band.
