SMS Director Jenny Neff to Present at 2020 PMEA State Conference

Director of the MM in Music Education & Summer Music Studies Programs, Jenny Neff, will be presenting at the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association State Conference in April, 2020. She will be representing UArts in a collaboration with other music educators. Learn more about Jenny's sessions –
 
Session #1:
“Creating and Sustaining an Inclusive Culture in Your Program”
 
This session will address areas in secondary instrumental music that include: supporting girls in jazz groups; programming works by female composers; and fostering an environment that is accepting of female directors. Members of the panel will share insights, experiences, strategies, and suggestions.

Session #2:
“Mastery in the Middle: Rehearsal Pedagogy, Planning, and Preparation for Middle School Band”
 
This session will focus on creating and sustaining a successful Middle School/Junior High Band through discussion of ideas and strategies for improved program administration, rehearsal pedagogy, and ensemble repertoire. Information will be presented through discussion on a variety of topics related to teaching band at the middle school/junior high level.
