Helen Simoneau is a 2021 Guggenheim Fellow and current New York City Center Choreography Fellow. Originally from rural Québec, Simoneau has been recognized as “a Choreographer-on-the-rise” by Dance Magazine.She has received  commissions from The Juilliard School, Oregon Ballet Theatre, the Ailey School, BalletX, the American Dance Festival, among others. She was a resident artist at Baryshnikov Arts Center in 2013, NYU/Tisch, Bates Dance Festival, The University of Buffalo, and a fellow of The NYU Center for Ballet, Ailey’s New Directions Choreography Lab, the Bogliasco Foundation, and the NC Arts Council. Simoneau’s work has been presented at The Guggenheim Museum, Joyce SoHo, Tangente (Canada), Shanghai Dance Festival (China), The Aoyama Round Theatre (Japan), the L.I.G. Art Hall Busan (South Korea), PACT-Zollverein in Essen (Germany), Athens Intl. Dance Festival (Greece), and the 13th Intl. Solo-Tanz-Theatre Festival in Stuttgart, Germany, where she was awarded 1st place for Choreography.
