Why did you decide to become a FYG?
I graduated high school in 2016 and immediately went to a school that checked very few boxes for me. I didn't like the town. I didn't like the Film program. I didn't fit in. Finding the Film Design program and the UArts community has been exactly what I needed, even five years later. As a FYG, I can make sure incoming students feel welcomed and understood.
What's your favorite part about the UArts community?
Everyone is so supportive, even across majors. This is really seen in general courses, electives and on social media. There is so much love and appreciation for everyone's unique perspectives and art forms.
Why should new students attend New Student Orientation?
The first week of school always takes some adjusting to, especially in college. Knowing a few people in the hallways and in your classes helps to not feel alone in this transitional period.
