Theater Design & Technology (BFA)

In collaboration with world-class directors and designers, Chris Haig has created scenery and props for theater productions throughout the Philadelphia region for over 20 years. For the past seven years, he has also been an adjunct professor at UArts, from which he graduated in 2001 with a BFA in Acting.

Biography

From painting his first backdrop with his father for a community theater production of Evita in 1992 to managing the décor of a multimillion-dollar production in Las Vegas in 2024, Haig has honed his craft over a lifetime of theatrical endeavors.

Experience

  • He served as props supervisor for Arden Theatre Company, Philadelphia, for 10 seasons (2011–2021) before returning to freelance design work. 

  • Haig has designed sets and/or props for 

    • Spiegelworld’s The Hook in Atlantic City, New Jersey, and DiscoShow in Las Vegas; Desaparecidas at Jack in Brooklyn, New York; 

    • 1812 Productions, Arden Theatre Company, Inis Nua, InterAct Theatre Company,  Philadelphia Theatre Company, Plays & Players Theatre, Quintessence Theatre Group, Shakespeare in Clark Park, Simpatico Theatre, Tribe of Fools, and University of the Arts, all in Philadelphia;

    • Theatre Horizon, Norristown, Pennsylvania; 

    • People’s Light, Malvern, Pennsylvania;

    • Bristol Riverside Theatre, Pennsylvania; 

    • Arcadia University, Glenside, Pennsylvania; 

    • Villanova University, Pennsylvania; 

    • Delaware Theatre Company, and Delaware Shakespeare Festival, both in Wilmington.

  • He is a proud member of the Society of Prop Managers, Local USA 829, and the board of Philadelphia Scenic Works.
