Book Arts and Printmaking (MFA)/ '23

 

Bryn Ziegler is a Philadelphia-based book artist and illustrator. She grew up in rural Pennsylvania before moving to Los Angeles to earn her BFA in Fine Art, with concentrations in painting, drawing, and design, at the University of Southern California. After seven years, she returned to the east coast to complete an MFA in Book Arts and Printmaking at University of the Arts. Bryn specializes in intricate narrative books and draws on the visual language of comics in her work. She loves unconventional book structures and unconventional narrative structures equally. She has taught workshops with the Free Library of Philadelphia, Soapbox Community Print Shop, and University of the Arts. She is currently an instructor for the UArts Summer Institute program and is pleased to be joining the Delaware College of Art and Design as a faculty member this fall

Her work was recently included in the National Association of Hand Papermakers’ Collegiate Triennial, which will be traveling until 2024, the 2023 Commonweal Gallery exhibition Terminal Degree, and the 2022 Philadelphia Center for the Book exhibition A New Normal. Her books can be found in Swarthmore Libraries Rare Books, Penn’s Kelly Writers House, the UArts Library Special Collections, and The Free Library of Philadelphia’s Print and Picture Collection, Map Collection, and Comic Collection
