Faculty, Students and Alums a Dramatic Presence in Wilma Theater’s “Romeo and Juliet”

More than a dozen students, faculty and alums from UArts’ Ira Brind School of Theater Arts appeared on stage in Philadelphia’s Wilma Theater’s contemporary update of Shakespeare’s tragic drama “Romeo and Juliet,” while others assisted behind the scenes. Running Jan. 15 through Feb. 3, the adaptation of the classic play featured rock music played by a live band onstage, and wrestled with the question, “What happens when unconditional love confronts unforgivable violence?”

In technical positions were Abby Schlackman ’19 (Theater Design + Technology), serving as lighting intern, and Amanda Hanna ’19 (Theater Design + Technology), who was the sound intern.
