UArts Alumni Honored with Awards for Philadelphia Educators

UArts alumni Marita Fitzpatrick MAT ’99 (Art Education) and Maria Stevens BFA ’85 (Ceramics) received 2019 Lindback Foundation Distinguished Teaching awards and were highlighted in The Philadelphia Inquirer this spring.
According to the Lindback Foundation’s website, the Lindback Award for Distinguished Teachers recognizes “60 teachers from Philadelphia public schools who demonstrate excellence in promoting learning at the highest levels.”
Stevens teaches sculpture and ceramics at the Philadelphia High School for the Creative and Performing Arts, and Fitzpatrick is an art educator at Bodine High School for International Affairs.
