Recent Theater Grad Begins National Tour as SpongeBob SquarePants

Ira Brind School of Theater Arts graduate Lorenzo Pugliese BFA ’19 (Musical Theater) was recently cast in the leading role of SpongeBob SquarePants in the first national tour of Nickelodeon’s The SpongeBob Musical

The Spongebob Musical, which won “Best Musical” from the 2018 Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Awards, follows your favorite Bikini Bottom residents as they harness the power of optimism to save the world from catastrophe.

Pugliese makes his touring debut just months after graduating with his bachelor’s degree from University of the Arts. During his time at the university, he performed in multiple productions, including American Idiot, Guys and Dolls, and Retrograde. Pugliese also performed regularly with the Scranton Shakespeare Festival.

The national tour will hit several major cities in the U.S. and Canada, landing in Philadelphia in December. See Pugliese’s performance at the Forrest Theatre Dec. 3 through Dec. 15.
