Class of 2019 Graduate Works on Live Reading of Mueller Report

July 2, 2019

Adrianna Lombardi BFA ’19 (Directing, Playwriting and Production) worked on The Investigation: A Search for the Truth in 10 Acts, a celebrity-filled reading of Robert Mueller’s report that was staged in New York and livestreamed June 24. As noted by CBS News, the report “translates into a 10-act play that takes 18 actors to perform.”

Adrianna Lombardi BFA ’19 worked on ‘The Investigation: A Search for the Truth in 10 Acts.’

Lombardi was personal assistant to the director and two producers, and served as the general production assistant. She credits UArts’ courses with preparing her for the 12-hour-per-day job. “Knowing the specific terminology you learn in [Theater Management and The Art of the Managing Director] was immensely helpful, because I actually understood the tasks I had and the instructions I was given, instead of blindly following and winging it,” Lombardi says. “Advanced Management was also super-helpful.”

She explains that in all three of those courses, she learned about budgets and office tasks that are part of theater production. Further, she mentions her experience with Polyphone Festival, a nationally known showcase for new and emerging musicals that takes place at UArts each year.

“This was a new piece having its first reading, so changes were being made on the fly,” she explains. “I am all too familiar with how new works work and the environment that accompanies them.”
