Merriam Theater

Address
250 South Broad Street
Philadelphia, PA 19102

The Merriam Theater, part of UArts' partner organization the Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts, stands as a monument to Philadelphia's exciting performing arts culture. Centrally located on the Avenue of the Arts, the Merriam functions as the hub of UArts' School of Music and also features performances by students from our School of Dance and our Ira Brind School of Theater Arts.

Here, performing arts students learn in the same building where legends like John Barrymore, Sir Laurence Olivier and Katharine Hepburn performed.

Despite the Merriam's rich 89-year history, the building has been completely upgraded and equipped with a wide range of music facilities:

  • Recording studios
  • Practice rooms
  • Piano lab
  • Computer and synthesizer workstation labs
  • Audio-for-video dubbing and editing lab
  • Percussion studios
