Sculpture (BFA in Fine Arts)

My goal with creating is to try new things, use weird materials and enjoy the process as it happens.

I primarily create marionette puppets that portray America’s "ideal woman" and how she has changed throughout our history. The puppets depict a stylized body type, hairstyle, outfit and makeup look that would have been standard of each woman’s time period. When I start a puppet, I have a rough idea of what it will look like, but it’s never fully realized until I’ve finished it. I make an attempt to heavily include found, recycled and unconventional materials into each puppet. I’ve just begun implementing my style of creating into making small-scale sets for the puppets to exist in—I look forward to where that new process leads me.
