Art Education (MAT)

My name is Brittany Tucker and I am an illustrator. Art has always been a part of my life; believe it or not it I learned how to draw by drawing a lot of dogs. Who would have thought that drawing so many dogs would have made me fall in love with art?

I attended The Philadelphia High School for Creative and Performing Arts as a visual arts student. I received my BFA in Illustration from Pennsylvania College of Art and Design.

Do not quench your inspiration and imagination."— Vincent van Gogh

I believe that art gives people an outlet for their own interpretation of the world; the things that they see and also the beliefs that they hold. My role as an art educator would be to create a learning environment that will cater to that outlet and encourage creative thinking.

As a child I struggled a lot with low self-esteem and was very shy. Art helped me to express myself in ways I would have never imagined. I like to think of it as a special universal language that can be taught to all students so that they too may express themselves in different ways. I feel it’s my duty to pass that torch to future aspiring artists.
