Sports & Recreation
From traditional basketball intramural leagues, to a gym membership, to our Quidditch team, there are plenty of ways to get active on campus.
The Fifth Circle
The Fifth Circle is an all blades fencing club open to all UArts students, faculty and staff. The mission of the club is to teach and help members develop the necessary skills and discipline for learning the art and competitive craft of athletic fencing, all within a challenging and relaxing environment.
The Fifth Circle conducts open instructional workshops twice a week, and holds competitive fencing tournaments once a semester. In every competition, fencers contend for bronze, silver, and gold medals. All equipment and workshops are free, however students are encouraged to acquire their own personal equipment to further supplement their learning experience.
The Office of Campus Life offers our students intramural leagues for the fall and spring semesters. These leagues are held at Kids on 12th Street (204 S 12th Street). Students should bring their UArts ID and a valid state issued ID to get into the gym and play for free!
Dodgeball – Wednesdays from 9:00pm – 11:00pm
Basketball – Sundays from 3:00pm – 5:00pm
For questions about Intramurals, please contact Kristen Burkett, Director of Campus Life: firstname.lastname@example.org
The University offers partially subsidized memberships at the Sweat Fitness (1 South Broad Street). $88 for 3 months, must have your UArts ID to join. Contact SWEAT Fitness for more information: 215-985-4092.
Salsa Club made its first appearance here at the University of the Arts in 2012! The club has a mission to further broaden the Salsa Vocabulary in the UArts Community and the greater Philadelphia Area. Classes are open to all and no experience or Salsa partner is necessary. Come ready to move those hips!
The Tabletop Role Playing Game Club
The Role Playing Club meets weekly to play various role playing games like Fiasco, Dungeons and Dragons, and others! You don't have to have experience to play. They'll teach beginners the fundamentals of the games and they welcome other game suggestions!
UArts Quidditch Team
From the mind of J.K. Rowling has come the only co-ed college contact sport in the form of Quidditch. If you enjoy the thrill of contact sports, want to get in shape without spending endless hours at the gym, or are interested in learning more about this relatively new sport, you should join Quidditch.
Our mission is to engage in fair and fun Quidditch play while focusing on bonding as a team on and off the field with regular biweekly practices and a couple of Harry Potter movie nights.
