LGBTQIA+ Resources

Welcome to the UArts LGBTQIA+ resource page. This page is for those who:

  • identify as LGBTQIA+.
  • might be questioning their sexual or gender identity.
  • have questions about the LGBTQIA+ community.
  • want to learn more about resources for support at UArts.
  • seek to learn how to be an ally to LGBTQIA+ folks.

University of the Arts is committed to providing a safe, caring and supportive environment for the healthy development of all our community members. We are committed to building and sustaining a campus environment that is safe and affirming for all students, faculty and staff.

The director for Title IX, equity and compliance serves as the primary point of contact for the list of on- and off-campus resources, support services and programs available on this page. Note: This list of resources is not exhaustive and can be added to or edited at any time by contacting our Title IX coordinator at titleix@uarts.edu.

We hope you find these resources helpful and welcome feedback or comments on how we can improve.

All Gender Bathrooms

All-gender or gender-inclusive bathrooms are bathrooms that people of any gender or gender identity may use. Each building on campus has one or more all-gender bathrooms: Terra Hall has one per floor on floors two–15; Anderson Hall has one on the first floor; the Student Center has one on the second floor; Hamilton Hall has one on the third floor on the north side; and Arts Bank has one on the third floor.

Gender Inclusive Housing

Gender-inclusive housing provides two or more students with the opportunity to share a university housing assignment regardless of biological sex, gender identity or gender expression. This option is available to all students who reside in university housing in all residence halls.

Student Chosen-Name Policy

UArts recognizes that some students choose to identify themselves with a first name other than their official name of record, and we support this as a way to affirm and include all members of our community. The Student Chosen-Name Policy provides a process for requesting a preferred name through the Registrar’s Office.
