JOB TITLE: Student Activities Programming Coordinator

DEPARTMENT:  Campus Life

REPORTS TO:  Director for Student Activities

Summary:

The Student Activities Programming Coordinator is responsible for developing campus programming, overseeing clubs and organizations, co-advising Student Government, and developing commuter outreach and support initiatives. The Student Activities Programming Coordinator should serve as an advocate for students by providing them with important information, resources, and welcoming and engaging events. This is a live-in, 12 month position and serves as a member of the On- Duty crisis response team and participates in a weekly on-call crisis response rotation and handles crises as needed.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the Director for Student Activities, develop and execute programs for the general student population, graduating seniors, and commuter students, by implementing a yearly calendar of programs and events that stimulate students’ minds and provide opportunities for social exploration
  • Coordinate registered student organization activity, including registration, executive board training, budgeting, program planning, and officer transition
  • Assist the Director for Student Activities in the advising of the student government association
  • Assist with the planning and coordination of New Student Orientation by hosting the Student Activities Fair and participating in other Orientation related activities
  • Recruit, plan, and facilitate the Emerging Leaders program in the fall and/or spring semesters, and assist in other departmental leadership education initiatives
  • Manage the University’s SEPTA Pass Program, a discounted semester public transit program
  • Hire, train, and supervise the Student Activities Graduate Assistant
  • Supervise, train, and recruit Campus Life work study positions in conjunction with the Director for Student Activities and Diversity & Inclusion Programming Coordinator
  • In conjunction with the other coordinators in Campus Life, plan the Student Leadership Awards
  • Serve in the On-Duty crisis response rotation
  • Assist in day-to-day activities as needed in the Office of Campus Life including staff in service

Education:

  • A minimum of an earned Bachelor’s Degree is A Master’s Degree in Higher Education, Education, Student Affairs, or similar area is preferred.

Experience:

  • 1-2 years’ experience in student activities, club and organization advising, and/or a related field
  • 1-2 years on call crisis response experience preferred

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Excellent organizational and event planning skills
  • General knowledge of student development theory
  • Demonstrated ability to create a welcoming environment for students
  • Ability to work with a diverse population of students
  • Ability to execute large and small events, maintain a budget, and negotiate contracts with vendors
  • Ability to run training sessions for student leaders and host leadership workshops Ability to work some weekends and ability to work one (1) evening a week during the academic year
  • Ability to work in an on-call crisis response duty rotation being on-call 24/7 for one week at a time approximately 8 weeks a year
  • Mental Health First Aid Certification preferred
