Steve Beskrone is the department coordinator for Bass and an instructor at UArts.


Versatility is the key to acoustic/electric bassist Steve Beskrone’s musical achievements. He has worked and recorded with legends such as Ray Charles, Horace Silver, Pat Martino, and Philly Joe Jones. Beskrone has also recently toured internationally with Melody Gardot and Maceo Parker. 

He was a rhythm section bassist with the Philly Pops from 2013 to 2023. From 1974 to 1976, Beskrone attended the Philadelphia Musical Academy (now known as University of the Arts), where he studied double bass there with Neil Courtney of the Philadelphia Orchestra. 


  • Beskrone has been performing and teaching music for over 40 years.

  • For the past 20 years, he has been on UArts’ School of Music faculty.
