Since fall 2020, ShinYeon Moon has been a senior lecturer for Figure Communication and Figure Painting in the Illustration program at UArts. She has also taught Design Foundation as a part-time adjunct professor at Queens College in New York City.

Biography

Moon earned a BFA in fine arts at New York University. She holds an MFA in Illustration as Visual Essay from the School of Visual Arts, where she received the Coyne Foundation Scholarship, the Alumni Society Award Scholarship and the Paula Rhodes Award for her body of work.

Experience

She has shown work at group exhibitions including 

  • Nucleus Portland Art Gallery, Oregon;
  • Gallery1988, Los Angeles; 
  • A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn; and 
  • Museumquartier in Vienna, Austria. 

Moon has held solo exhibitions at 

  • sevenminusseven gallery in St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands; and 
  • Studio Kura Gallery, Fukuoka, Japan. 

She has participated in Comics Art Brooklyn and the Booklyn Artists’ Book Fair. 

Moon was also awarded a residency at the Arrowmont School of Arts and Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.
