Smith is an artist/printmaker and book artist who lives and works in Philadelphia, PA. She is an Alumnae Artist Member at A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn, NY. Her books are represented by the Women’s Studio Workshop in Rosendale NY and by Vamp and Tramp Booksellers, LLC, Birmingham Alabama. Smith’s work is exhibited nationally and internationally, including in Brooklyn, NY, Philadelphia, PA, New York, NY, Paducah, KY, Seoul, Korea, Venice, Italy, Lorca, Spain, Paris France, and Tokyo, Japan. She is included in print and special collections at numerous institutions, such as, the Bibliotheca Alexandria, Egypt, Brooklyn Museum of Art, Yale University, the Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the University of Pennsylvania. Smith is a Full Professor and coordinator of Printmaking in Fine Arts, at the University of the Arts, Philadelphia. She earned a MA from the Philadelphia College of Art, studied Japanese woodblock at the Yoshida Hanga Academy, Tokyo, Japan, and earned a BA at Immaculata College. Since 2012 Smith has been collaborating with artist/filmmaker Claire Fouquet of Paris, France. Working alternately in Paris and Philadelphia, and in residencies in various places in the USA or Europe. They merge their areas of expertise confronting issues of common concern such as, courage, fear, confidence and self-doubt in their prints, artist books and animations. Their videos have been included in exhibitions and installations in Philadelphia, Brooklyn and Paris and as the visuals for music and dance performances. Smith was an artist-in-residence at Scuola Internazionaledi Grafica, Venice, Italy, and with Fouquet at The Women's Studio Workshop, Rosendale, NY and The Tyrone Guthrie Center, Ireland. Most recently Fouquet and Smith have had a collaborative Exhibition at A.I.R. Gallery, Brooklyn, NY.
