Lynette Brown, a longtime Philadelphia art educator and a UArts alum, is a senior lecturer who teaches Program Design and Methods Secondary. Brown's areas of expertise and educational focus include diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice social justice, as well as National Certification for Professional Teaching standards.

Biography
Lynette Brown is a Philadelphia resident who attended Temple University's Tyler School of Art, Philadelphia. At University of the Arts, she earned a Master of Education degree.

Experience

  • Brown’s professional career consists of over two decades in art education with the School District of Philadelphia.
  • She contributed to the National Board for Professional Teaching as a 2018 standard-setting assessor and consultant and as a 2017 content-validation reviewer. 
  • As a facilitator and teacher consultant from 2010 to 2016, Brown spent her summers at the Philadelphia Writing Project's Summer Institute through the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education. There, she co-facilitated an intensive writing program that focused on literacy and social justice for educators in the Philadelphia area.

Brown’s recognitions include 

  • the School District of Philadelphia's Art Department Art Teacher of the Year award and
  • National Board Teaching Certification in 2012.
