Dairys Escoto De León
Dairys Escoto De León is an Animation instructor who is new to UArts and super-excited to join this vibrant community. She also recently moved to Philadelphia, so if you see her around campus, feel free to chat her up on the fun spots around town.
Biography
A Dominican artist, Dairys (pronounced Da-ee-rees) Escoto De León focuses on bringing nostalgic experiences and colorful inspirations into installations, stop-motion and, basically, any medium she can get her hands on.
She merges a wide palette of color, language, music, landscapes and foods to form worlds similar to, yet different from, those she’s experienced. Her goal is to disrupt the static, Western film gaze with fun, experimental concepts that are socially conscious.
Experience
Escoto De León recently graduated from the California Institute of the Arts, Santa Clarita, with an MFA in Experimental Animation. Prior to that accomplishment, she studied at Rhode Island School of Design, Providence, and received a BFA in Film/Video/Animation. Her work experience lies primarily in freelance opportunities, with her most recent jobs being rotoscope animation for an Amazon Prime documentary and a music video for Flocabulary.
