Biography

Sarah Jacoby is the award-winning author and illustrator of such picture books as

  • Can I Sit with You?, Chronicle Books, 2021

  • Rabbit and the Motorbike (art), written by Kate Hoefler, Chronicle Books, 2019

  • The Important Thing About Margaret Wise Brown (art), written by Mac Barnett, Balzer + Bray, 2019

  • Forever or a Day, Chronicle Books, 2018

Jacoby’s work is evocative and delightfully unexpected, playful and effortlessly profound. It is characterized by a deeply felt empathy; a keenly observant eye; and an intuitive ability to capture and convey what it means to think, feel and be in the world as a human.

Jacoby lives and works in a little row home in Philadelphia. Yes, she has a dog that looks like a muppet; his name is Walt. He’s a grump, but he enjoys poetry, which tells you he’s not unkind.

Experience

  • Jacoby now focuses on picture books, but she has also done editorial work for outlets like The New York Times and Washington Post.

  • She has also designed apps and done surface design for organizations like Anthropologie.
