JOB TITLE: Programs Coordinator, Advising Center 
DEPARTMENT:  Advising Center, Division of Student Affairs
REPORTS TO:  Director, Advising Center
Summary:
Reporting directly to the director of the Advising Center, this position is responsible for the coordination of all programming and services in the Advising Center, overseeing the management and delivery of academic support programs in the Center, including the Tutoring Program and the Academic Achievement Program. This is a full time salaried exempt position. 
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists director with program planning and services offered by the Advising Center, including orientation, special programs, events, and workshops in addition to advising and tutoring
  • Oversees and manages the university’s peer tutoring program, a multi service, multi-location program that contributes to student success
  • Coordinates the Academic Achievement Program early orientation program and its academic year programs
  • Recruits, interviews, hires, trains, supervises and evaluates peer tutoring staff (approximately 30-50 tutors per semester), office assistants, and AAP peer leaders
  • Develops and delivers tutor training, including creating handbooks with processes, policies and training materials
  • Monitors and oversees scheduling and payment for all work study staff. 
  • Manages scheduling and reporting system for the Advising Center. Responsible for processing utilization reports and data imports.
  • Evaluates students’ tutoring needs and schedules or assists in scheduling as-needed and recurring advising and tutoring appointments. 
  • Advises and tutors students, meeting one to one to provide academic guidance and support.
  • Manages communications to students, faculty and staff including mailings, social media, and promotional materials.  Responsible for managing and updating the Center’s university web pages. Develops and coordinates activities to promote and publicize services.
  • Acts as liaison between students, staff, and faculty.  Refers students to appropriate campus resources.  Addresses faculty requests for tutors  
  • Provides administrative information and guidance regarding advising and tutoring services to students, staff, faculty and parents
  • Oversees daily operations and administrative responsibilities of the Center and office
  • Performs additional duties as assigned by director

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in humanities, education, or the arts. Master’s degree preferred. 

​​​​​​​Experience:

  • Experience working in advising, tutoring/learning centers, or academic departments in higher education; coordinating programs; teaching or tutoring in a college setting. 

Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Ability to establish and maintain positive and cooperative working relationships with academic programs, administrative departments, students, and their families. 
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and oral and written communication skills. 
  • Ability and desire to work collaboratively with members of a team.
  • Full command of Microsoft Office suite, Google suite; knowledge of Creative Adobe suite and or other design software a plus
  • Knowledge and proficiency in CMS, student advising, and data systems. 

Supervisory Responsibility:

  • Supervises peer tutoring staff, student office assistants, and peer leaders.
