An excerpt from "Edge of the Pier" by Bridget Grazel

I stood still as a statue, eyeing the flashing lights before me and hearing the deafening sirens. Red, blue, red, blue, the lights danced in front of me like a mocking jester. The colors blinded me and I remembered the red blood spreading through the murky blue water which raged below, just the night before. I thought about the events of the evening prior and wondered how it would end for me, and how I transformed from a lowly nobody into the girl with the biggest secret in town, in just a blink of an eye.
