UArts Pre-College Summer Institute for High School Students

ACCLAIM Program

Accelerated College-Level Academic Instruction in Music

The Accelerated College-Level Academic Instruction in Music (ACCLAIM) is a two-week summer program designed for students who exhibit potential but require additional training to successfully participate in the School of Music undergraduate curriculum.

University of the Arts School of Music developed the ACCLAIM program to allow applicants to the undergraduate degree programs to enhance their musicianship through courses in theory and ear training, while they engage in intensive performance opportunities such as jam sessions, ensembles, and public performances. This rigorous two-week experience prepares students for a successful freshman year at UArts and provides a solid foundation for achievement throughout their academic and professional career. For ACCLAIM participants, acceptance to the University of the Arts is contingent upon successful completion of the program.

  • Virtual ACCLAIM classes begin for all students Monday, July 26, 2021.

  • The deadline to register for ACCLAIM is May 1, 2021.

  • Virtual ACCLAIM classes are held from Monday through Friday, and consist of remote 30-minute private lessons each day, via Zoom, from our School of Music Faculty to focus on technique, music theory and musicianship. The program also include access to the Pre-College Master Class sessions each afternoon.

  • ACCLAIM participants collaborate with the Pre-College Summer Institute Music Program

  • Entry into ACCLAIM program serves as a conditional admission to the university pending successful completion of the program and a cumulative grade of B or higher.

  • There is no audition component.
