Chris McDonnell
Chris McDonnell is an animation director and a bestselling author/designer of art books that explore the animation production process.
His animated work has aired on Netflix, HBO, Comedy Central, Nickelodeon, Cartoon Network/Adult Swim and IFC, as segments on shows such as Lady Dynamite, Kroll Show, Comedy Bang! Bang!, Eagleheart, Portlandia, Tour de Pharmacy, Yo Gabba Gabba!, Mike Tyson Mysteries, Brody Stevens: Enjoy It!, Tim and Eric Awesome Show Great Job! and Tom Goes to the Mayor. Chris has also created character concept designs and artwork for two series in development at Warner Bros., and character concept designs for an animated feature in development at TriStar Pictures.
Chris’s books include Sasquatch’s Big Hairy Drawing Book (Chronicle Books), Unfiltered: The Complete Ralph Bakshi (Universe), Adventure Time: The Art of Ooo (Abrams), the Publishers Weekly bestseller Steven Universe: Art & Origins (Abrams), BoJack Horseman: The Art Before the Horse (Abrams) and DOOM DOOM DOOM: The Art of Invader Zim (Abrams). Chris has also designed art books about Wonder Woman, the Joker, horror, sci-fi, zombies and animation director Bill Plympton, among other topics.
