All students who live on campus in one of our four residence halls are automatically enrolled in the Platinum Plan. Students living in the residence halls for a second, third, or fourth year have the option of selecting the Gold Plan, through the end of the add/drop deadline each semester.
All students not living in our residence halls – commuters, full and part-time, graduate and undergraduate – are invited to select a meal plan by going to the UArts portal.
Non-residential students interested in dining on-campus may choose from any of the meal plans listed above.
How Meal Plans Work
Meal plans are tracked on a weekly basis, from Monday morning until Sunday evening. You may not exceed more than the number of meals per week as outlined in your plan above, unless you have purchased the Gold Plan and are using one of the four weekly guest passes.
There are up to four meal time zones per day (breakfast, lunch, dinner and late night). Students may either use their meal plan, Dining Dollars, or receive a meal plan equivalency during those time zones, based on the specific location. Mangia or the Mezz offer a la carte items for a meal plan equivalency.
Monday - Friday
- Breakfast: 7:00am-1:00am
- Lunch: 11:00am - 4:00pm
- Dinner: 4:00pm - 7:30pm
- Late night (Mangia only): 7:30pm - 10:30pm
Meal Plan Exchanges
Meal Plan Exchanges allow you to exchange one all-you-care-to-eat meal in the Terra Dining Hall for an equivalent combo meal in another location. One meal will then be deducted from your weekly meal plan allowance.
Meal Exchange Program
You also have the opportunity to take advantage of Meal Exchange Program in Mangia during the 4th Meal Zone of the day (7:30 p.m.- 10:30 p.m.). These bundles are pre-determined and pre-set in the(touch screen ordering system.
Dining Dollars can be used to make purchases at any dining location on campus. Dining Dollars provide flexibility and value when used to purchase a beverage or snack between classes or to treat others to a meal. Dining Dollars expire at the end of each semester.
Declining Balance Accounts
Students can add money to Declining Balance Accounts. In addition to being able to use the accounts to make purchases at any dining location, these accounts can be used to make purchases throughout the campus, including the UArts Store, Print Services and resale sites. Students can add money to Declining Balance Accounts at any time online. Unused funds in the account will be credited to student's billing account at the end of the academic year.
Making Changes to Meal Plans
Residential students may not make changes to their plan at any time. Non-residential students cannot select a lower-level meal plan after the add/drop deadline for each semester. However, non-residential students may upgrade to a higher-level plan at any time during the semester. Make changes to at Student Life on the 3rd floor of Gershman Hall.
We understand that there are sometimes circumstances beyond your control, such as a major health issue. If you want to seek an exception to the meal plan change policy, contact the Office of Student Affairs at 215-717-6617.
If you have friends or family visiting, they can use cash or credit to purchase meals from any dining location. You can also use UArts dollars or one of your four weekly guest passes (if you are on the Gold Plan).
