While disclosure of an impairment is voluntary, students are highly encouraged to meet with the Educational Accessibility Advisor as early as possible to ensure the highest levels of access and support. Note that accommodations and support will differ from student to student.

About Educational Accessibility
The mission of the Office of Educational Accessibility is to enable citizen artists to succeed, creatively and personally, at the University of the Arts, and beyond, by removing barriers and by promoting acceptance and accessibility in all University programs, activities, and facilities. We are committed to inspiring, educating, and preparing innovative artists and creative leaders for the arts of the 21st century. We do this by directing each student’s quest for creative self-expression toward a productive role in society that we might stimulate and influence not only our students but the very disciplines they study.
The primary mandate of the Office of Educational Accessibility is to provide leadership and facilitate equal access to all institutional opportunities for disabled individuals. The Office of Educational Accessibility provides institution-wide consultation and training on disability related topics, including universal design, disability scholarship as well as legal and regulatory compliance, The Office of Educational Accessibility collaborates with institutional partners to identify and remove barriers to foster an all inclusive campus and provides individual services and facilitates accommodations for students with disabilities.

The Educational Accessibility Advisor and ADA/504 Coordinator and the Office of Educational Accessibility are responsible for the implementation of and complaince with Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended (Section 504), 29 U.S.C. § 794, and its implementing regulation, 45 C.F.R. Part 84, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability by recipients of Federal financial assistance through the Department of Education (DOE); and Title III of the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (Title III), 42 U.S.C. §§ 12181-12189, and its implementing regulation, 28 C.F.R. Part 36, which prohibit discrimination on the basis of disability by public accommodations. As a recipient of DOE funds through the receipt of federal student financial aid, The University of the Arts and its employees are obligated to comply with Section 504 and its implementing regulations. As a public accommodation, The University of the Arts is obligated to comply with Title III and its implementing regulations.
Adherence to Standards
The Office of Educational Accessibility adheres to the standards as set forth by the Council for the Advancement of Standards in Higher Education (CAS) and the Association for Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) for Student Disability Resources and Services.
The Office of Educational Accessibility provides for access and barrier removal for students and members of the public. All questions regarding accommodations for Faculty and Staff should be directed to the Office of Human Resources.
