The University of the Arts' Creative Writing program class of 2017 caps off its undergraduate experience with a thesis-project reading. The event begins at 5 p.m. May 1, 2017 in UArts’ Caplan Recital Hall, on the 16th floor of Terra Hall, 211 S. Broad St. Light refreshments will follow.

Two notable seniors are Emily Famularo and Maggie Fenning. Famularo received a Corzo Center Innovation Grant worth $2,500 for her online music magazine, The Hook Journal. It features reviews, interviews and shows for the large and small music scene. She was also nominated for the prestigious PEN/Robert J. Dau Short Story Prize for Emerging Writers by the magazine Philadelphia Stories for her story "The Bad Outside." Fenning’s poem, “Milk Soup,” received an Editor’s Choice award from the Sandy Crimmins National Poetry Prize, which celebrates poets of all backgrounds, experience and styles.

At the event, each member of the senior class—Famularo, Fenning, Lauren Grossman, Alyssa Langenhop, and Alex Pruden—will be reading from his or her respective thesis project.
