Health Insurance at the University of the Arts

Online Insurance Form:
The required Online Health Insurance Form at myuarts.uarts.edu/ahpins will be active during the next enrollment period. The next enrollment period will be for Spring 2019, and new students will be able to access the link and submit infurance information from mid-November through 2/4/19.
Note that students can only access the online form once a year, so if you have already submitted your insurance information once this year and need to make a change during an enrollment period please call our office directly at 215.717.6652 to discuss potential updates.
Deadlines: Students entering in Spring 2019 must complete the form by 12/10/2018. The absolute last date to submit insurance information is 2/4/2019* and students with personal insurance must submit their information online by this date in order to remove the $1,346 insurance fee from their bill.
*Students beginning in Spring 2019 who fail to submit personal insurance online by 2/4/2019 will be enrolled in the school plan and responsible for the entire cost of the insurance fee: no exceptions.

Personal Insurance Plans:
It is a University of the Arts policy that all full-time, matriculated students taking 6 or more credits in the Fall/Spring carry health insurance with major medical coverage and submit proof of this coverage via online form.
Waiving the Insurance Fee: Students submit proof of personal insurance online at myuarts.uarts.edu/ahpins in order to remove the insurance fee from the tuition bill*.
The entire process should take only a few minutes and the student will need a copy of their insurance card. Afterwards the student will receive a confirmation email in their UArts email account. Once the waiver is completed Student Financial Services will issue an updated tuition bill in 1-2 weeks. For billing questions please contact SFS at 215.717.6150.
*Deadlines: The Online Insurance Form will be active in May (for Fall start) and November (for Spring start). Students are encouraged to complete the form right away to avoid any late fees on their tuition bills. All students are strongly encouraged to complete the form by August 1st (Fall) or December 1st (Spring). The absolute last date that insurance information can be processed is the final date of add/drop for the semester. Following add/drop eligible students who have not submitted proof of insurance will be enrolled in the school plan and responsible for the insurance fee: no exceptions.
To find out if your insurance is accepted in the Philadelphia area: Please refer to the website for your personal insurance company. Most will have a “Find a Doctor” or “Search for a Doctor” tool available which will show a list of eligible resources in a given area. The zip code for UArts is 19102.
School-Sponsored Insurance Plan:
Please Note: The School-Sponsored Insurance does not impact a student’s ability to utilize health services while attending UArts. All current students are welcome to visit the Health Office which remains free of charge.
The school-sponsored insurance plan is simply an option available to enrolled students who meet the guidelines for eligibility. Insurance is offered at a discounted student rate through an outside insurance company (for the 18/19 year it is Aetna) and enrollment is facilitated through UArts. Please read below for details on enrollment and the plan.
To Enroll: To begin enrollment by the earliest possible start-date students must visit myuarts.uarts.edu/ahpins and confirm enrollment by August 1st (Fall) or December 15th (Spring).
Deadlines: August 1st (Fall) and December 15th (Spring). Students currently enrolled in the school plan need to re-enroll online by these dates in order to avoid a lapse in coverage. Students who enroll after these dates will have a processing time of approximately two weeks before coverage begins.
2018/2019 Plan Information:
Please note that the insurance for the 2018/2019 year will be changing to Aetna. Students enrolling in the school insurance will be receiving digital insurance cards. Information on how to access personal plan information will be shared with enrollees closer to the start of coverage.
Insurance Company: Aetna
Cost: $2,171 for the entire year; $1,346 for students who enroll in the Spring. Note: The fee is added to the tuition bill.
Coverage Start/End Dates: Fall Coverage is from 8/15/18* until 8/14/19 (students must opt-in by 8/1 to begin coverage by this date); Spring Coverage is 1/1/19* until 8/14/19 (students must opt-in by 12/1/18 to begin coverage by this date).
