Sakinaa Rock - Counseling Intern
Staff

(They/Them); Bryn Mawr College Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research

Sakinaa Rock is a black, queer, non-binary Muslim and believes that their identities inform their therapeutic practice. They've chosen this work because of their belief in the healing power of human connection. They're interested in exploring and unearthing the ways in which systems of oppression, early experiences, and relationships live inside of us and shape our present and future. Their work is trauma-informed, emotion-focused, relational-cultural, psychodynamic, black feminist, queer-affirming, and anti-oppressive in its scope and practice. They are prioritizing work with BIPOC LGBTQ+ and TGNC artists.

Their previous internship was in the Counseling and Psychological Services Center at Cheyney University of Pennsylvania from 2022 - 2023. They received their B.A in Africana Studies from William & Mary and are currently pursuing their M.S.S. from Bryn Mawr Graduate School of Social Work and Social Research.
