Jennifer Greenburg is an associate professor and director of the Photography program at University of the Arts.

Biography

Jennifer Greenburg is a contemporary artist who works with photographic imagery. Her work identifies the way historical photographic imagery assists in idealizing and obfuscating the harsh realities of American culture. 

Jennifer Greenburg holds an MFA from the University of Chicago and a BFA from the School of the Art Institute and has been a professional educator since 2002. Her area of concentration in teaching is conceptual art and the articulation of ideas using lens-based media and technology. She has taught courses in photography, digital media, video, printmaking, public speaking, history of photography, and analog and digital drawing. Greenburg has been invited to speak about her work and her teaching and hold workshops with students around the globe.

  • Solo shows of Greenburg’s work have been held at KlompChing Gallery, The Print Center in Philadelphia, and Hyde Park Art Center in Chicago. Greenburg’s work has been part of numerous international group shows, including The Museum of Contemporary Photography at 40 in Chicago.

Awards & Accolades

  • Greenburg was an artist in residence at Light Work, Syracuse, New York, and is a recipient of two Illinois Arts Council Grants. 

  • Greenburg was a CherryHurst House Fellow at the Museum of Fine Arts Houston in 2021.
