Program of the Year Award

The Last Five Years, a Brind school production directed by Kelly Kriegeris (he/him) is an emotionally powerful and intimate musical about two New Yorkers in their twenties who fall in and out of love over the span of five years. The piece follows two separate timelines: one telling the story chronologically, the other in reverse. Through this unconventional storytelling structure, four actors will re-examine the musical through a personal lens, rebuilding and redefining Jamie, Cathy and their lost love. Before each performance, two actors will be randomly selected to take on the roles, bringing audiences a different version of this universal love story each night.

Kelly is a director, actor and current senior DPP at UArts. Some of his past directorial credits include Into the Woods, Spring Awakening, Peter and the Starcatcher, Avenue Q, Godspell and most recently, The Last Five Years at The University of the Arts. He is also the current Artistic Director of Theatre at the Grove in Nuangola, PA. When he is not in the theatre, he enjoys having long conversations about Disney, musicals or his dogs.
