Music - Vocal Performance (BM)

Janine Diaz Whitt is a singer, songwriter and voice teacher working in the tristate area and a member of the voice faculty at University of the Arts. She has always been inspired by many types of music and loves to be able to sing in not only different styles, but also in different languages. Janine’s experiences span the spectrum, from fronting a rock cover band, singing pop music and performing in jazz trios/quartets, to singing Hispanic music, like salsa and Latin jazz, as well as classical/opera, liturgical/church singing, musical theater and studio recordings for original artists.

She is currently the bandleader of Imagine, a dance/party band with EBE Events & Entertainment. Through that band, she has organized, emceed and performed at more than 200 weddings and private events. She has also sung with other groups, such as the Latin jazz band Ellas Y Amigos, the Pops Festival Chorus with Peter Nero and the Philly Pops, and the UArts “Z” Big Band, and has sung backup for various original artists. Additionally, Janine has written, recorded and produced a full-length album titled Evolution, which features original songs encompassing many of the various styles that have influenced and inspired her as a performer.

As an educator, Janine has been working as a private voice instructor since 2004. She is a private voice lesson instructor at the Conservatory of Musical Arts in Audubon, New Jersey, as well as in her own voice studio in her home. In the past, she has worked at AMLA (Association of Latin American Musicians) and served as choir director of Camden County College in New Jersey.
