JOB TITLE: Student Financial Services Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Student Financial Services
REPORTS TO: Associate Director for Financial Aid
Summary: Primary duty will be to assist all potential and current students in navigating the financial aid and billing processes, and giving guidance on how to afford their education. The Counselor will be expected to interact regularly with students and their families via telephone, e-mail, and in-person visits.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
• Packages and monitors financial aid
• Answers general inquiries and explains how financial aid may impact their student bill
• Receives in-person visitors
• Responds to e-mail and telephone inquiries
• Presents financial aid information to prospective students and families
• Assists families calculate their university balance as well as providing guidance on financing strategies
• Assists with ancillary processes such as importing financial aid application information
• Completes federal verification in accordance with federal guidelines
• Processes appeals for loss of aid due to insufficient satisfactory academic progress
• Considers professional judgment appeals
• Represents the office of SFS at various institutional and community events
• Sits on Financial Appeals Committee
• Performs financial aid stipend review
• Assists in monitoring outstanding balances
• Other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 2-3 years relevant experience
• Positive and upbeat attitude
• Familiarity with Colleague preferred
Competencies, Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
• Knowledge of Federal Title IV Regulations
• Experience with Colleague
• Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
• Experience with Google Suite
• Experience with Department of Education COD
