JOB TITLE: Admissions Counselor
DEPARTMENT: Admissions
REPORTS TO: Director for Undergraduate Recruitment

Summary/Objective: 
Undergraduate Admissions Counselors work to recruit, counsel, and enroll qualified undergraduate students, working to achieve the University’s enrollment goals.  Counselors also work closely with high school guidance counselors and art teachers, and two-year college faculty and administrators, cultivating long-term relationships, continuously informing the enrollment pipeline. They are responsible for assisting the student through the admissions process, acting as a liaison to other campus departments, and serving as the student’s advocate.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities: 

  • Strategically plans, schedules, conducts, and supports a variety of on and off-campus recruitment events. 
  • Maintains a rigorous travel schedule throughout the recruitment season, including evening and weekend hours. 
  • Identifies and recruits prospective freshman and transfer students from assigned territories and events.
  • Assists with and conduct University sponsored events including Audition Days, Admit One, Open Houses, Info Sessions, Counselor Days, etc.
  • Provides superior customer service to students through the entire admissions process.
  • Consistently achieves performance goals for each term by reaching targeted conversion metrics at each stage of the admissions process.
  • Collaborates with all departments and offices across campus to support recruitment and enrollment. 
  • Responds to all new inquiries quickly and maintain consistent communication with all students throughout the admissions process.
  • Completes a high level of outbound calls per day to reach prospective students in a timely manner. 
  • Reviews portfolios of prospective visual art students and applicants, offering constructive feedback.  
  • Advises students on next steps throughout the admissions and enrollment process, and supporting them to complete the application. 
  • Provides follow-up correspondence to prospective students, teachers and guidance counselors after high school visits, portfolio days, on-campus interviews, college fairs, etc.
  • Populates, maintains, and updates applicant database with current and relative information in a timely manner.
  • Reviews and processes completed applications for decision recommendations.  
  • Manages and complete special assignments and projects, as assigned.

Experience:

  • 1 to 2 years of prior customer-service related position, with focus on relationship building. 
  • 1 to 2 years of prior experience in a college or university setting.

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree required

  • Computer skills including proficiency with the Microsoft Office Suite, customer relationship management systems, student information systems, and the ability to learn new systems quickly and thoroughly. 
  • Ability to travel, with current driver’s license.
  • Ability to quickly understand tasks-at-hand, with a mind for solution-based outcomes.

  • None

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member is continuously required to sit and use hands to finger; occasionally required to walk; seldom required to reach with hands and arms; required to talk and hear. Must be able to lift up to 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and peripheral vision.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the staff member will be exposed to a moderate noise level in the office environment.
