Assistant Director for the Advising Center; Academic Advisor - School of Film

Contina “Tia” Kemp is the School of Film Academic Advisor in the Advising Center. Tia is a first-generation college student and has worked professionally in higher education since 2007.  


She has supported students in the areas of Multi-Ethnic Programs, Community Engagement and Service-Learning. Tia graduated with a degree in Visual Arts and Creative Writing from Eckerd College, then completed her M.Ed. in Student Development at Seattle University.


As an improviser, Tia performs and teaches at the Philly Improv Theater and also teaches in the UArts ESLI program. Tia has studied long-form improvisation at The Second City in Chicago and is a part of several improv teams in Philadelphia, including Jillroy and (in space). Currently, she performs monthly with American Express, a POC team of writers, comedians, actors and improvisers. Tia has also performed at several festivals in Philadelphia including, Sketch Fest, We The People and the Bechdel Test Fest.
