Sent to all residential students March 20, 2020

Good afternoon,

At this time, you have likely seen President Yager's email that details our response to the new directive by Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf. Effective immediately, Residence Halls are closed for the remainder of the semester. Only those students who have been given expressed permission by the Office of Residence Life to remain in their residence hall space will have access to residential buildings.

Residential students who are currently away from campus should not return to campus to collect any items. Any students who previously planned to return to campus this weekend for priority items should not do so. When it is safe and feasible to do so, we will announce plans for residential students to return to collect their belongings. Until that time, we will hold all residents’ belongings just as we do during our Winter Break closing.

Residence Life and Student Affairs staff will be visiting each room on campus to secure the building for your extended absence. This includes; closing windows, turning off lights, unplugging electronics (refrigerators will remain plugged in), disposing of any trash or perishable items that may rot or attract pests, adjusting HVAC, and locking doors. If any perishable items are disposed of in your room, you will receive an email notification from our staff the week of March 23. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Sara Pyle
Assistant Vice President for Student Services
