Jordan Rockford
Assistant Director for the Advising Center; Academic Advisor - School of Design
Jordan Rockford is an assistant director in the Advising Center and services as an academic advisor for students in the School of Design. He has taught courses in photographic theory and history at UArts for more than a decade.
Biography
Rockford is an educator, academic advisor and independent curator. In addition to teaching in the Photography program, he has developed and taught courses for the Professional Institute for Educators at UArts and as part of the Teaching with Primary Sources partnership with the Library of Congress.
Rockford holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from University of the Arts and a Master of Letters in Art History from University of St Andrews, Scotland, where he focused on Museum Studies and the History of Photography.
Experience

Before joining the faculty and staff at UArts, Rockford spent a decade as a museum professional, working with collections at the Civil War and Underground Railroad Museum of Philadelphia; the Historical Society of Pennsylvania; the Library Company of Philadelphia; the Philadelphia History Museum at the Atwater Kent; and McManus Galleries in Dundee, Scotland.

U.S. exhibitions of work by international artists Nelson Morales, Vuth Lyno, David Adika and Gustavo Sagorsky;

creative development for Hidden City 2009, a citywide festival of installation art based in Philadelphia’s historic sites; and

exhibitions for the Delaware Art Museum, Wilmington; the William Way LGBT Community Center, Philadelphia; and Penn State University.

Rockford was a founding member of the Philadelphia-based artist collective and gallery NAPOLEON from 2011 to 2016 (now Pink Noise Projects) and is a design consultant for the Mural Arts Program.
