Chelsea Zeffiro is a contemporary dance artist based in Southern California specializing in experimental & collaborative performance in alternative spaces. After receiving her BA in Comparative Literature from University of Southern California, Chelsea worked at Warner Bros. before moving to Paris, France, working as a teaching assistant at Lycée Louise Michel (TAPIF). In Paris Chelsea worked as assistant curator to Isabelle Le Normand (Mains d’Oeuvres) on a project titled, LA Chez Vous (site-specific performance and installation–inverting private homes into public art space. Returning to Southern California, Chelsea performs, creates and produces works in dance, film and theater. She is the co-founder and curator of 40 North Fest (2015), San Diego’s first annual dance film festival (MOPA, Art Produce Gallery), and independently directs Take Your Place – conducting impromptu/site-sensitive movement interviews with international contemporary dance artists. She is co-director of California Living Project, a multi-channel dance film installation project–creating collaborative performance for camera with Palo Alto residents in their homes. As of March 2018 Chelsea hosts and facilitates a recurring open invite, open-score dance and sound improvisation night at the Whistle Stop Bar in San Diego, CA.

Chelsea has had the privilege of performing in festivals and productions such as: La Jolla Playhouse’s WOW Festival, Made in L.A., Night on Broadway Los Angeles, Dance Camera West, San Diego Int'l Fringe Festival and Trolley Dances. Zeffiro regularly collaborates–co-composing and performing solos with artists: Rachel Mason, Jay Lizo and Nate Page in spaces such as LTD Gallery, Human Resources LA, Pico Union Project, HM157, Los Globos, The Mingei Int’l Museum & the Hammer Museum.
