Chief of Staff / Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives
Shelton Walker is the University's Chief of Staff & Associate Vice President for Strategic Initiatives. Reporting directly to the president, Shelton is responsible for a broad range of initiatives in alignment with our strategic goals and the University's mission to advance human creativity. Shelton oversees and stewards the work of many university-wide centers and initiatives that are tied to the strategic vision of the University. She plays a critical role in the Center for Immersive Media, the Corzo Center for the Creative Economy, the Art Alliance, and the Rosenwald-Wolf Gallery, and oversaw the creation and start-up of the Enrollment Marketing division. Shelton also manages key processes and projects for the University, such as co-chairing the Strategic Planning Committee and project managing the 2019 Special Exhibition of the United States at the Beijing Biennale, which was co-curated by president David Yager and vice president Rick Longo.
Shelton has previously served UArts as assistant provost, director of communications for Enrollment Management & Admissions, and associate director of Graduate Admissions. Prior to joining UArts, Shelton served as director for Continuing & Professional Studies at Montserrat College of Art, and has also taught as an adjunct instructor at Montserrat and at Glasgow School of Art in Scotland. She holds an MFA from Glasgow School of Art, and a BFA from Pratt Institute.
