Stephen J. Lightcap, Ed.D. is the Vice President for Finance and Administration at the University of the Arts. Dr. Lightcap is responsible for a broad scope of management and operations of the institution, including budgeting, accounting, financial reporting, strategic financial planning, information technology, investments, asset management and risk management. Operations under his direct supervision include the controller’s office, human resources, legal, facilities operations and maintenance, housekeeping, technology and information services, distribution services, rentals, public safety, university store and dining services.
He began his career in public education, holding administrative positions in large public school districts in both New Jersey and Pennsylvania.
From there, he was appointed Controller and then promoted to CFO/Treasurer at Moore College of Art & Design in Philadelphia, where he served under 4 different presidents during a 5-year period of time. Following Moore College of Art & Design he held positions as Executive Director of Finance/CFO and then VP for Financial Affairs at Chestnut Hill College in Philadelphia, PA, then as VP for Finance and Administration/Treasurer at Cabrini College in Radnor, PA.
Lightcap received his Ed.D. in Higher Education Management from the University of Pennsylvania, and has research interests in leadership and inter-institutional collaboration. Dr. Lightcap also holds an M.B.A. from Villanova University and a B.S. in Commerce and Engineering Science from Drexel University.
