Teacher Professional Development

 PA Act 48

The Professional Institute for Educators and Summer Music Studies programs are approved providers of Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) Act 48 professional development credits. One graduate credit is equivalent to 30 Act 48 credits. A three-credit graduate-level course is posted as Act 48 90-hour equivalency. Courses taken for credit require additional work. Non-credit coursework qualifies for the number of contact hours.

For credits to post, educators must supply their unique Professional Personnel Identification (PPID) number and submit an Act 48 Transmission Request from the Student Forms card to the UArts Office of the Registrar, available through the university's portal. Educators may log into PDE's Professional Education Record Management System (PERMS) to obtain their PPID and to track credit progress.

University of the Arts posts Act 48 to the State after final grades have been submitted, in batch uploads that typically occur during the last week of each month.

We are an approved provider for New Jersey Professional Development (provider #4700). New Jersey teachers should follow the administrative policies of their school district, which will require either a grade report or an official transcript to be submitted by the student.
