ROGER ELLIS is a stage director and movement specialist based in New York City whose work centers on physically-driven, inclusive, and socially relevant theatrical experiences. He has worked across the US as a director, choreographer, dramaturge, movement coach, and/or actor with companies such as Sacramento Music Circus, Paramount Theatre, Pace University, Marymount Manhattan College, Tuacahn Center for the Arts, San Diego Repertory, Lyric Theatre of Oklahoma, Gallery Players, and Festival 56. He is an adjunct professor in the Theatre Arts Department at Marymount Manhattan College, where he teaches Musical Theatre Scene Study, Musical Theatre Techniques, and Theatre Dance. He has also taught on the musical theatre faculty at NYC's Professional Performing Arts School.

Roger's approach to teaching cultivates the actor's physical connection to the text, affirming both the body and mind as centers for intelligence. In the studio, he offers concrete movement-based tools that expand the actor's ability to make expressive choices while harnessing their unique individuality.

Roger holds a Master of Fine Arts degree in Musical Theatre from San Diego State University and a BA in Theatre Performance from Oklahoma City University. Roger has trained extensively with SITI Company, Frantic Assembly UK, Lucid Body Institute, Laban/Bartenieff Institute of Movement Studies, and Jen Waldman Studio. He is a proud member of Actors' Equity Association, the Stage Directors and Choreographers Society (Associate), The Musical Theatre Educators Alliance, the Association of Theatre Movement Educators, and The Association for Theatre in Higher Education.
