Theater - Musical Theater (BFA)

Polyphone has connected me with so many industry professionals and taught me so much that I feel truly excited to jump out into the real world and hit the ground running.

Things about me:

I identify as non-binary, and with that, has come the need to do a lot of deep exploration of who I am as a performer and how I want to market myself. UArts has given me a wonderfully supportive and understanding environment to explore this in with a truly encouraging faculty and student community who have encouraged me to embrace my identity fully in my life and on stage.

Through UArts' Polyphone Festival of new musicals, I have gotten the chance to fall in love with the craft of working on a new piece of theatre. Now, in my senior year, I have been fortunate enough to receive the chance to have my very own original musical produced in the very festival that inspired me to write it. Polyphone has connected me with so many industry professionals and taught me so much that I feel truly excited to jump out into the real world and hit the ground running.

The reason I chose UArts was fully because I could see that we are encouraged to be our best selves as performers- not to try and be like everyone else. This program has no desire to create another Barbra Streisand or Audra McDonald- they already exist. They are as successful as they are because they are unique, and that is just what UArts' has taught me to embrace in my work as a performer, writer, and in my life.
